President of the Islamic University Participates in the Opening of the Safeer Al-Hussein International Festival at Kufa Mosque

The President of the Islamic University in Najaf Al-Ashraf, Prof. Dr. Ammar Abdul Amir Al-Salami, participated in the opening ceremony of the 15th International Safir Al-Hussain Cultural Festival, organized by the General Secretariat of the Great Mosque of Kufa and its affiliated holy shrines under the slogan “Kufa: The Land of Promise and the City of Covenant.” The event was attended by a distinguished gathering of religious, academic, and cultural figures.
The President’s participation reflected the University’s commitment to supporting cultural and religious events that promote civilizational identity and strengthen the connection between historical heritage and contemporary academic achievements.
During the festival, several significant initiatives were announced, most notably the establishment of a Center for the Revival of Kufa’s Heritage, in addition to the completion of the renovation of the shrine of Al-Mukhtar Al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him). The newly restored shrine grille was officially inaugurated in a spiritually uplifting atmosphere that reflected the profound historical and religious significance of this landmark.
The festival also featured a diverse program that included art exhibitions, research sessions, and poetry evenings, reaffirming its status as a prominent cultural event that brings together spirituality and knowledge while highlighting the pioneering role of the city of Kufa in the Islamic cultural landscape.
